Sajoe Sadan : Rehabilitating mentally retarded children

Sanjoe Sadan special school for mentally retarded children, Thuravoor, was established in 1992. It is under the guidance of Franciscan Claust Sisters, with sister provincial as Head of the institution. It is located in Thuravoor, which is about 11.7 Kms away from Cherthala, in alappuzha District. Our institution had a humble beginning. It was inaugurated in the year 6th January 1992, by Thuravoor Assistant Educational Officer N. Bhaskara Menon. The public meeting held on the same day was attended by Provincial Rev. Sr. Infant Treesa, Priest of Thuravoor Church, Rev. Fr. Vincent Parambathara. Our vision is to rehabilitating mentally retarded children. The institute got Government recognition in 2003.

Our Service

We provide veriety of services to our participants
for the overall development of their character.

School

The school admits children regardless of their religion, cast, gender and age. The inmates of the institute are of no age limit.

Awareness Programme

The institute conduct regular awareness programme for the public at the rare of two programmes a year, usually a seminar and a camp.

Recreational Activities

We give importance to the indoor and outdoor games. This helps in their intellectual; physical and mental growth of a child.

Vocational Training

Vocational training is provided at the institute with the primary objective of rehabilitation of mentally challenged children.
